Cosplay Photographer Spotlight – Gail Jeremiasse

My name is Gail Jeremiasse.


I don’t like gass so my go to is Apple or oranje juice!


So my name is Gail and I’m 16 years old. My hobbies are cosplaying, photography an writing books and scouting.

When did you start cosplay photography?

I’m not ‘officially’ an cosplay photographer. I like to shoot with my friend and on Dutch Comic Con. And i started that around begin 2018.

What got you into photography?

I always liked pictures. But i was like would i do that? But one day i went to the instawalk and since then i’m into it!

What made you go into cosplay photography specifically?

Dutch Comic Con. You see things there that you have to stare at it for a few minutes and the only thing you can say than is ‘oh my god’. I just want to picture it than. And i also like to get to know the cosplayers that way!

How long have you been doing photography?

Since begin 2018. I started with my friend @cosplay_by_b.

What types of cosplay do you like to shoot?

Self made ones. How more creatif they are the better.

What is your photo shoot goals, or something you would love to shoot?

A photoshoot with color powder. I just love that effect so much!

What is your favorite kind of cosplay photo shoot?

I like it when I know the character, it only have to be a little. But if i know the character I can help the cosplayer with poses and ideas and i think that is the most fun.

What do you love about cosplay photography?

To see so much different cosplays and such amazing people.

What is the most difficult thing for you about cosplay photography?

To ask people I can shoot them. I have a little anxiety, sometimes it’s just scary.

Do you have any camera equipment you can’t live without?

I’m not sure. I have my first camera and lens right now, but i’m looking for a better lens!

If you could live in or visit any fantasy world, where would you go?

Wonderland. I love Alice in Wonderland so much. I just can’t live without that movie!

If you could give cosplayers tips about working with a photographer, what would they be?

Just be yourself. To be open to the poses and ideas the photographer has, and say what you want, those are your pictures! You are on it, you have to be happy about it!

To much! But here are a few:

And much more!

What is something you wish cosplayers knew about working with a photographer?

That they don’t have to worry about anything and just be yourself. That your pictures turn out the best and it’s to fun to be yourself then don’t!

What misconceptions do you feel cosplayers have about working with a photographer that you’d like to clear up?

I’m not sure, I guess I didn’t do enough shoots to know that.

What is something you wish cosplayers knew before they booked a photography session?

Nothing special for me. I just want you to feel confortable around me.

What is your creative process?

I want to know you and your character. Than we can think about poses that fits you character and you.

What are some proper etiquette tips for booking a photoshoot and participating in one?

Get to know your photographer. Do you like the work? Do you think you feel confortable around him or her? That kind of stuff. And if you are sure about the photographer than go ahead!

What is your greatest achievement (regarding cosplay photography)?

I guess just meeting people and making them feel strong, beautyful, etc. In their cosplay.
