Weirdies Supporting Weirdies!

Cosplayer Spotlight – Jessica Davis

The moment I saw this cosplayers pictures, I knew I had to have her on the blog. I love she is committed to perfecting her cosplay. As always, enjoy!

Hi! What shall we call you?

My name is Jessica Davis.  Also known as:

Instagram: @jessica.rose.davis

Twitter: @jdtherose

When did you start cosplaying?

My first cosplay was at Long Beach Comic Expo in February 2017, so I’m a newbie! I’m blown away by the love and support I’ve received and the fans I’ve gotten, just during this short time in this cosplaying world! It’s very humbling and heart-warming!

Who are your cosplay idols?

I absolutely love CutiePieSensei; she is probably my favorite Wonder Woman cosplayer! She embodies the exotic, strong, gorgeous goddess that Wonder Woman is, and all her cosplays are gorgeous!

I also love Alicia Marie. I met her at Long Beach Comic Expo when she was doing her Aquaman gender-bender, and it was AMAZING!

And of course, I have to mention WonderWomanisReal and SylviaSlays! I love their Hippolyta/Diana duo. The movie-accurate costumes they have are beautiful, and they portray the characters perfectly!

What type of cosplay do you do?

I am strictly a Wonder Woman cosplayer. Although, if I were to branch out and do anything else, I think I’d start with Hela from Thor: Ragnarok . Also, I am an avid Destiny player, and am dying to make a Hunter cosplay! So, we shall see! 😉

What are your favorite cosplays?

My favorite cosplays at conventions are the groups. Like, the whole Justice League, or the Ghostbusters…there’s just something extra special about seeing a group of people come together like that!

What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?

My ultimate, all-time fav superhero is Thor, and I would LOVE to do a Thor gender-bender…buuuut I don’t see that happening any time soon! Never say never though! 😉

What do you love about cosplay?

I love that cosplay allows a person to embrace their true, genuine self, and celebrate the things that bring them joy! There’s something empowering about embodying a character that you love. It’s also a wonderful community. Everyone is supportive, admiring, and encouraging. And everyone is SO talented and creative!

What is the most difficult thing for you about cosplay?

1) The large amount of time and money that goes into creating a cosplay from scratch

2) Those heels I wear are really painful after a few hours! I need to find some new boots 😉

What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?

I wish people understood that cosplayers make their own costumes…

What cosplays are you working on?

I am going to do a full Wonder Woman costume reboot, hopefully in time for WonderCon next year but definitely by San Diego Comic Con!

Where can people find your cosplays?

The best way to see my cosplays are on my instagram, @jessica.rose.davis. And if you see me at a Con, come say hello! My next con is WonderCon in Anaheim.

Please remember I do not own any of these pictures and the opinions in this survey belong to the interviewee.
