Cosplayer Spotlight – Luta Cosplay

I hope you are all as excited for the weekend as I am! And to add to this excitement we have a great Cosplayer today! Leave a comment and share!

Hi! What may we call you?

Luta Cosplay

When did you start cosplaying?

I started cosplaying in 2012ish, I had been to a convention previously but not in cosplay. When I started there weren’t many cosplayers maybe about 25-30% of the people at the con were in cosplay.

Why did you start cosplaying?

I started cosplaying because my older sister did, she had a cosplay that fit me to I borrowed it from her, I think I started so she would have someone to go to the cons with, but I ended up taking the hobby further than her and got a little obsessed. haha

Who are your cosplay idols?

I don’t think i have idols in general because I don’t put anyone on a pedestal but I admire anyone who immerses themselves into cosplay or any hobby and genuinely has fun doing it, especially if they do it well.

What type of cosplay do you prefer?

I cosplay mainly league of legends champions and anime characters! I would like to branch out a bit but pretty skins keep being released! I have a lot of other game characters on my to-cosplay list too.

What are your favorite cosplays?

Even though its terrible I really like my challeger ahri as it was my second cosplay I did that had armor and that I made all myself, it was bad but it was a big learning curve I’m glad I did it and I’d like to re-do it in future.

What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?

I really like a lot of male characters but my features are too rounded and feminine to pull off crossplay well, I’ve tried before and I think I suit female characters more.

What do you love about cosplay?

Where to start! I really like making things so that makes me really excited to plan out and make a cosplay, I love immersing myself in the character and I really like going to cons and meeting people who like the characters and game/anime as much as I do.

What is the most difficult thing for you about cosplay?

Taking photos for sure, I’m really not photogenic and I lack posing skills so I usually get disappointed at the results. haha

Who is your favorite character to cosplay?

I don’t think I have a favorite character but i like the ‘moe’ or ‘cute’ styled characters, I feel more comfortable with them.

Where do you get your inspiration for your cosplays?

It’s always a character I relate to or love the art.

What are your “fandoms”?

i’ll try to keep this short;

League of Legends, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Anime, k-pop, Stranger Things etc

What is something you wish beginning cosplayers knew?

I wish beginner cosplayers knew everything to know about contact lenses before they use them, I see too many people sharing lenses, not caring for them properly and other harmful things, id hate for anyone to lose their sight because of negligence when it could easily be prevented!

What tips do you have for other cosplayers?

Old makeup brushes make good contact cement applicators, so do foam brushes.

Contact cement is toxic so make sure your workplace is ventilated, its also flammable, found that out the hard way.

You can use a belt sander on foam pieces if they are dense foam.

Wood glue is just as good at mod-podge.

What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?

This hobby is time consuming and expensive. And its not a kink.

What cosplays are you working on?

Snow fawn poppy

What cosplays do you want to do if money/time were no object?

All of them!

Where can people find your cosplays?

Facebook, instagram, cosplay amino, league of legends amino, and video games amino all under the name Luta cosplay

Please remember I do not own any of these pictures and the opinions in this survey belong to the interviewee.
