Today we are interviewing an amazing cosplayer and reenactor, Tjeika. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did!
How do people in the cosplay community know you?
Maria Helena Güldenpfennig / Tjeika
Tell us about when you start cosplaying.
2014 I started to build my first cosplay costume. Before that I was about twelve years active in medieval and viking reenactment – and I’m still.
What was it about cosplay that drew you to it?
As an reenactor there are limits to realism. These limits are not existing in cosplay.
Who are your cosplay idols?
I actually have no specific idol. But I have a friend who is very inspiring. You can find his website here: http://www.angathonion.de/
What are your favorite cosplays?
That’s difficult. There are so many wonderful, detailed, lovingly made cosplays out there. I simply cannot name only a few.
What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?
Marvel’s Black Widow, because I have a friend who is doing that and I think I shouldn’t “steal” that. It’s about respect.
What do you love about cosplay?
You can do and be whatever and whomever you want to. There are complete new problems to solve which have nothing to do with everyday problems.
Who is your favorite character to cosplay?
I’m working on Zev Bellringer from Lexx – The Dark Zone. Soon I will be ready but I already love it!
What is something you wish beginning cosplayers knew?
I think I need these kind of tips as well. But I would say: don’t do anything you don’t want your parents to see you doing. No nudity, no exaggerated sexiness. The internet never forgets.
What tips/tricks do you have for other cosplayers:
Foam is the solution for everything. 😉
What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?
We are freaks, that’s okay. We are happy with it.
What cosplays are you working on?
Marvel’s Pepper Potts is almost ready, Zev Bellringer from Lexx – The Dark Zone and a random valkyrie from the new Thor movie.
What cosplays do you want to do if money/time were no object?
Actually I do not see these limits, there is always a solution.
Where can people find your cosplays?
www.facebook.com/tjeika and as tjeika on Instagram plus deviantART.
Please remember I do not own any of these pictures and the opinions in this survey belong to the interviewee.
