Hello! What can we call you?
La Femme Nagita or @nasmakeupfx
When did you start cosplaying?
About eight years ago.
Why did you start cosplaying?
I went to my first convention when I was fifteen, and when I saw all of the cosplayers I just freaked out because I didn’t realize people dressed up for cons. I instantly wanted to be a part of that and started planning costumes for the next year.
Who are the cosplayers you look up to the most?
There are so many amazing cosplayers out there. It’s so hard to pick favorites. But some amazing people I love are aicosu, amberarden, sylviaslays, wonderwomanisreal, and sorcerersupremeofscotland.
What types of cosplay do you prefer?
As long as I love the character, it doesn’t matter what they’re from. But most of my cosplays tend to be superheroes.
What are your favorite cosplays?
Doctor Strange is my most recent and I adore it. Wonder Woman is also a favorite and is always popular at cons.
What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?
I’ve always wanted to do Winter Soldier, but that arm is so intimidating!
What do you love about cosplay?
I just love the process of becoming a character. I don’t know about other cosplayers, but when I’m in costume my personality changes based on who I’m cosplaying, the way I carry myself changes. It’s just so interesting to be someone else sometimes.
What is the most difficult thing for you about cosplay?
Honestly, it’s probably the actual wearing of the costumes. It’s amazing, but it’s usually also painful. Corsets and heels and wigs are not comfy.
Who is your favorite character to cosplay?
I’m not sure I could pick! It depends on my mood.
Where do you get your inspiration for your cosplays?
Usually favorite tv shows and movies.
What are your “fandoms”?
There are so many … the biggest would be The Walking Dead, Marvel, Harry Potter, Once Upon a Time, Lucifer, And Firefly.
What is something you wish beginning cosplayers knew?
That other people aren’t judging the quality of your costumes. They really aren’t. People see a character they love and they don’t care if the costume is store-bought or made out of cardboard. They just love seeing their favorite characters come to life. So whatever your skill level is, just wear your cosplay with pride!
What tips do you have for other cosplayers?
Start making your cosplay WAY earlier than you think you need to. Everything always takes longer than it should. Also, keep an eye out for Joann Fabrics coupons.
What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?
That cosplayers aren’t weirdos or freaks just because you don’t understand why we like to dress up. I don’t understand why people wear sports jerseys. That doesn’t mean I think they’re weird.
What cosplays are you working on?
It’s only in the conceptual phase, but my next cosplay is going to be Tinkerbell!
What cosplays do you want to do if money and time were no object?
I would probably do a Disney princess with a really elaborate dress that has more fabric than I can afford.
Where can people find your cosplays?
