Weirdies Supporting Weirdies!

Cosplayer Spotlight – Mutant Glue

Welcome! Please introduce yourself.

My name is Crystal. I go by Mutant Glue.

Tell us a little about when you started cosplaying.

I started back in 2015 I do believe. I went to my first convention then too. Wizard World Convention Nashville. I loved it!

So that is why you started cosplaying?

Yes. After that first convention, I wanted to keep doing it and be more creative and become more characters.

So who are your cosplay idols?

kayyybear, Yaya Han, panterona cosplay, cutiepiesensei, aliciamariebody, and so many more.

Talk to us a little about your cosplays.

My favorite cosplays that I have done would be Poison Ivy, Storm, and Blade.

What is something you want to cosplay but probably never will?

A full body armored version of Erza Scarlett from FairyTail.

What do you love about cosplay?

You can have fun as someone for a day. You get to dress up in completely different outfits and portray the character however you’d like. Its so much fun.

Who is your favorite character to cosplay?

Storm.. hands down.

What is something you wish beginning cosplayers knew?

You don’t have to be EXACTLY like the character. Meaning your skin color or your body type shouldn’t decide which characters YOU want to portray.

What advice do you have for other cosplayers?

WATCH YOUTUBE TUTORIALS. You can learn so many tips and tricks from just mocking what they do. Have fun with it. Don’t take it seriously.

What is something you wish non-cosplayers knew?

Just because some cosplayers like to portray their character in certain ways, doesn’t give you the right to label them. Cosplay does not equal Consent. Cosplay is for everyone.

What costumes are you working on?

Dr. Facilier from The Princess and the Frog, Death The Kid from Soul Eater, Static Shock, a Team Rainbow Rocket Member, Mitsuru Kirijo from Persona 3 and a school girl version of Erza Scarlet.

What cosplays do you want to do if money and time were no object:

I have a pattern for a Bombshell Wonder Woman. I want to combine that theme with Storm and make a Bombshell  Wonder Woman/Storm mashup.

This has been great! Tell people where they can find your cosplays.

You can find me on Instagram under Mutant Glue.
